Week of Sept. 20 - 24, 2021

Good morning Students and Families of Room 19,

I hope you are doing well and continuing to stay safe much like we are doing at school.  Thank you to ALL our amazing students and our TWO FANTASTIC parent volunteers for working so well during our Granary Road Field Trip.  We greatly appreciate the two parents for taking the time to help out the other day while learning about our Science Unit on Animals (small crawling and flying animals).  We focused more on the insects during this time (invertebrates) but we were also able to explore some of the other types of animals (belonging to the vertebrates group).  Below are some pictures of some very exciting activities we took part in during this week.  See if you can explain what is happening in the pictures and maybe provide your family with some interesting facts you have learned about these too.  Have fun and enjoy sharing these with your family =;)

Granary Road Field Trip

Week of Sept. 13 - 17, 2021

Good morning Students and Families,

Thank you for another GREAT week and the students are really learning the school and classroom routines quite well - AWESOME JOB, GRADE 2 STUDENTS!  I hope you are doing alright with our Homework pieces and continuing to stay safe due to our ever changing world we currently live in - please remember to wear your masks and wash our hands as often as we can - together we can get through this =;)

HOMEWORK - as a class we organized how to do the upcoming SPELLING WORDS (7) for Homework - please always write the word at least 5 times across the page, skip a line, and then write a DETAILED sentence with the word (underline the word in the sentence).  If you ever have questions, please inform me before the due date (Fridays) and we can work through the problem BEFORE it is due, thank you =;)

GYM outside the next few weeks - please wear the proper shoes to school as these shoes will be used during our GYM TIME OUTSIDE.  Runners would be the best, thank you!

READING IS IMPORTANT - please continue to read through our BLOGSPOT for Homework instructions, upcoming dates, and possible messages from the office.  This will greatly help keep you organized at home and for the school.  Thank you for your time and effort!  

GRANARY ROAD FIELD TRIP - Wed., Sept. 22, 2021 - please make sure you pack a quick and easy lunch, look at the weather that day before you leave for school, and NO FORMAL UNIFORM for this Field Trip.  THANK YOU to our amazing parent volunteers as well - you guys rock! =;)

Week of Sept. 6 - 10, 2021

Good afternoon Students and Families,

We have now completed another week of school and we have done a FANTASTIC job in learning our classroom routines and in learning to work with one another!  The students are also discovering that the classroom is not only mine, but the classroom is OUR CLASSROOM - students included!  We are a COMMUNITY and because WE are working together I am trying to give the students the freedom to express themselves and to use their own voices.  It has been wonderful to see as they are beginning to open up and share things about their own lives as well as believing in themselves!  They are figuring out that mistakes happen regardless of age and they are completely fine as we learn from these mistakes - we are taking risks in our learning to help ourselves grow =;)

Thank to you to ALL the families who were able to take part in our Google Meet this week and I have included the full PowerPoint presentation on our blog website (please go to the "Grade 2 Items" and click on the link to view what was presented on Thursday evening).  If you have any questions, please email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible, thank you =;)

Upcoming Field Trips and Volunteering - A great BIG "Thank You" to the families and parents who have offered their time to help out during our learning experiences for our students.  I have included the parents who do have their clearances for the upcoming Field Trips at the end of this month on our Monthly Agenda page.  If you are interested in volunteering this year, please make sure your School and Police Clearances are up to date and we would LOVE to have you come and learn with us!  THANK YOU IN ADVANCE =;)

First Week Back - Welcome back to school everyone =;)

Good afternoon Students and Families,

This is our weekly blog where I will add the wonderful work our students are doing throughout the week - this will include student work with some descriptions.  I am hoping this will allow you and your family to share what the students are learning and for you/parents to enjoy the GREAT work the students in Room 19 are doing =;)

Have a wonderful weekend and we will be back at school on Tuesday, Sept. 7th as Monday is a holiday.  Please also remember that Formal Uniforms are for Mondays or if we are asked otherwise (i.e. Field Trips, possible Assemblies, etc.).  This meaning on Tuesday, Sept. 7th is NOT a Formal Uniform day =;)

PLEASE NOTE:  On our Weekly Agenda page, I have added the TWO upcoming Field Trips which will take place this current month/September:

1) Granary Road - Science - Wed., Sept. 22nd - All day Field Trip (4 parent volunteers needed)

2) Teacher's Pet - Social Studies - Tue., Sept. 28th - 9am - 11am at school (4 parent volunteers needed)

Please let me know ASAP if you are able to help out - this was the LIGHT BLUE form that was in the package sent home.  It would great to have you come learn with us and enjoy the time together, thank you in advance =;)

HOMEWORK FOR 2021 - 2022 will begin on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021 and due on the Friday, Sept. 17, 2021 (sorry for the earlier mistake)
